When we close our eyes we hardly see anything. When we open them we can see a whole lot. From those, our heart desires what is good, realistic, unique…. Prayers come within us, against the opposite. As human beings, we have a lot of wishes. We wish us good quality stuff. What do we wish for others?
I have been working in the profession of teaching since 2004. I have come across number of students; dear and wayward, beautiful and unattractive, confident and uncertain etc. Among them I came across a unique girl.
Unique means the only one of its kind. I assure that Nashwa was one of her kind. She was pure in deeds. She was shy and quite. But her shyness disappears when she face her audience in the academic matters. Her complexion was dark. At that time I noticed she had an average height and weight to the students of her age. I have always seen her as a very sociable student who used to smile dearly. She was excellent hygienically. Her work was very good compared to the other girls in the class. She follows our advice all the time. Today even, it seems so easy for me to imagine her singing the school song very sweetly with pride and spirit. Throughout the year she was given the responsibilities of a class monitor twice and she proved herself as a successful leader by performing her duties splendidly.
Due to the above mentioned facts, I praised her a lot. The real reason why I am sitting here alone in a dark room, and writing about her is an evidence for this. My eyes sparkle with tears of joy when I share my thoughts about this student. Fortunately or unfortunately, I had to relocate my job to a couple of schools. So I got the chance to deal with different students of assorted islands. As a teacher, I also came across few inconveniences within the classrooms. I advise them a lot. I know that all my students like me very much. But, they themselves have difficulties in controlling themselves and staying away from mischief. Every where I go, in this profession, NASHWA comes to my mind. Due to her unique characteristics, I always end up my advice with her story.
Nashwa’s exclusiveness mostly touched my heart after the Children’s day competitions of 2006. The students of our school had a great time involving themselves in the competitions like poster drawing, writing essays and many more. She loved academic activities so her name was present on the participant’s lists for those competitions. It is obvious that competitors try hard to win the competitions. She also did so. Late at night, I went on marking their essays. I was thrilled by her words. In her essay, she wrote how the day was marked and how the competitions went on. Her ultimate statements meant that she worked hard to win a prize. Even with her hard work, she failed to win a prize. She was not satisfied with her result. But she was very happy about her friend’s achievements, because she always wished them the best. She also stated that she knew that they wished themselves the best the way she wished.
Today even, I feel proud of Nashwa for her righteousness. I hope that she is still the same in her etiquettes. I wish that I will have a number of Nashwa- like students in the future. I wish that all the parents will put an effort to rear children like this child. As a result, classroom atmospheres will be smooth and wonderful, in the future.
